AVANTASIA
With over 3 million records sold, Avantasia are undoubtedly one of the top bands in their genre. The German metal supergroup led by visionary frontman Tobias Sammet will be coming to Zurich on Wednesday, 9 April 2025.

Avantasia was founded in 1999 by Edguy-singer Tobias Sammet and began as an ambitious concept album project with various guest musicians. The project quickly developed into a firmly established all-star band with its roots in classic heavy metal and symphonic metal, which continues to impress with a variety of guest musicians and diverse musical styles. Since the early days, Avantasia releases have featured international stars such as Alice Cooper, Klaus Meine and Rudolf Schenker (Scorpions), Sharon Den Adel (Within Temptation), Bruce Kulick and Eric Singer (KISS), Eric Martin (Mr Big), Ronnie James Dio (†), Michael Kiske (Helloween) and many more.

The first EP Avantasia with four songs was released in 2000, followed by the concept album The Metal Opera in July 2001, which took listeners into a world full of epic stories and impressive metal compositions. After a longer break, Avantasia returned in 2008 with the album The Scarecrow. This marked the beginning of the Wicked Trilogy and the band showed a more complex and symphonic sound. In 2010, Avantasia completed the trilogy with The Wicked Symphony and Angel of Babylon, which further cemented the band's fame and featured collaborations with artists such as Klaus Meine (The Scorpions) and Tim ‘Ripper’ Owens (ex-Judas Priest). The Mystery of Time marked the beginning of a new era for Avantasia. High chart positions were achieved and an extensive world tour was launched. The follow-up Ghostlights continued this success and was nominated for an Echo Award. With their latest album A Paranormal Evening with the Moonflower Society, the band led by exceptional singer Tobias Sammet may well have finally reached the Olympus of symphonic metal.
